It doesn’t matter what your “religion” is, as long as you feel as the Dalai Lama does:

My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.

I would not have called myself a Christian by any means before the experience with the psychopath.  Too much hellfire and damnation.  Now I see more clearly, if not perfectly.  And I would say I”m a Buddhist-Christian, or a Christian-Buddhist.  Paul could not have said it better in the book of Romans:
